Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated multiple transformative healthcare projects worth approximately US$ 1.53 billion (Rs. 12,850 crore) on Tuesday, October 29, coinciding with Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day at the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. A significant highlight of the event was the extension of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) to cover all senior citizens aged 70 and above, irrespective of income, marking a pivotal step towards affordable healthcare for all.
As part of expanding the Ayush sector, he inaugurated Phase II of the AIIA, which includes a Panchakarma hospital, an Ayurvedic pharmacy, a sports medicine unit, and an IT and start-up incubation centre. He also launched three new medical colleges in Mandsaur, Neemuch, and Seoni in Madhya Pradesh. He unveiled upgrades at various All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) across several states. Furthermore, he inaugurated new hospitals under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) network. He introduced drone-based healthcare services across 11 institutions. The launch of the U-WIN portal aims to improve vaccination management for pregnant women and children. Additionally, he initiated the ‘Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan,’ a national health awareness campaign focusing on the impact of climate change on public health, thereby enhancing healthcare resilience across India.
