In its regulatory filing, HUL stated, “Pursuant to Regulation 30(7) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, it is hereby informed that the Company has, on 1st November, 2024, completed the sale and divestment of its Water Purification business carried under the brand ‘Pureit’.”
Pureit offers an extensive range of residential water purifiers primarily marketed in India, where it has established itself as a significant player in the sector.
Kevin J Wheeler, Chairman and CEO of A.O. Smith, highlighted that Pureit’s offerings will complement A.O. Smith’s existing premium brands.

“Pureit complements our premium brands in the market and their strength in e-commerce will allow us to expand our presence in that channel. This acquisition aligns with our strategy of adding scale and enhances our premium water treatment product portfolio and distribution footprint,” he noted.
The divestment allows HUL to focus on its core business lines, while A.O. Smith gains valuable scale and expertise in the region’s water purification market.
