Here’s a look at the major updates in the auto sector this week:
1. Initium
On Thursday, Hyundai Motor Company introduced its latest hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) concept, Initium. As part of its “Clearly Committed” initiative, the vehicle was unveiled at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang.
Meaning “beginning” in Latin, Initium features aerodynamic wheels and low rolling resistance tyres. It is designed to achieve an extended range of over 650 km on a single refuel, surpassing the range of the Nexo. The production version is planned for release in the first half of next year, with the concept set to be displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show and Auto Guangzhou in November.
2. Phantom Goldfinger Tribute
Luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce has launched a bespoke, one-of-a-kind Phantom Extended, crafted specially to honour the classic 1964 James Bond film *Goldfinger*. Celebrating the film’s 60th anniversary, the new model blends Rolls-Royce’s signature craftsmanship with design elements inspired by *Goldfinger* and its villain, Auric Goldfinger. The car’s centre console showcases a solid 18-carat gold Speedform, shaped like a gold bar.
3. 2025 911 Carrera T
Porsche has unveiled the all-new 2025 911 Carrera T, placing emphasis on a manual-only gearbox, diverging from the hybrid technology featured in the Carrera GTS. The latest model targets enthusiasts seeking an unfiltered, driver-focused experience. It is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine, delivering 388 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. According to Porsche, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.
In terms of design, the Carrera T retains the iconic lines synonymous with the 911 model. In India, the Coupé version is priced at approximately ₹1.13 crore (£135,995), while the Cabriolet version is higher at nearly ₹1.24 crore (£149,295).
4. Kia Tasman
Kia has launched its first-ever pickup truck, the Tasman. The vehicle will debut in the South Korean market in the first half of 2025, followed by key regions such as Australia, Africa, and the Middle East. The Tasman is offered with two powertrain options: a 2.5-litre petrol engine producing 277 bhp and 421 Nm of torque, and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, delivering 207 bhp and 441 Nm of torque. However, the Tasman is not expected to be released in the Indian market.
5. Kawasaki Z900
Following much anticipation, Kawasaki has officially unveiled the 2025 version of the Z900, featuring performance upgrades and new enhancements. It comes equipped with a 948cc four-cylinder engine, designed to deliver a more responsive performance from as low as 1500 rpm.
In terms of features, the new Z900 includes standard cruise control and multiple riding modes, among other updates.
