Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi emphasized the crucial role of India’s space sector in the nation’s development, describing it as essential to achieving the ‘Developed India-2047’ vision. He highlighted the sector’s growing vibrancy and the government’s long-term focus on strengthening it. He noted, “When the policy is right, the intention is right, and the mantra is national welfare with complete dedication, we achieve results. Today, private satellites and rockets are being launched. The space sector is the future for India, and we have strengthened and reformed it. Several startups are now in this sector.”
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s focus on the space sector coincided with the scheduled launch of the final development flight of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) carrying the Earth Observation Satellite EOS-8. ISRO is also gearing up for India’s maiden manned space mission, Gaganyaan, with four IAF pilots trained in Russia and India. He had first announced this major project in his 2018 Independence Day speech, and the pilots’ names were revealed in February this year. ISRO is also preparing for the Aditya L1 solar mission, the Shukrayaan (Venus) mission, and the Chandrayaan-4 lunar mission. Under the leadership of ISRO Chairman Mr. S Somanath, the agency is also working on establishing India’s own ‘Bharatiya Antariksha Station’ by 2035.
