Bharat today is jettisoning the colonial mindset, defying the earlier deified colonial ideas- Vice President Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar

During the 70th Annual Meeting of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) in New Delhi, Vice-President Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized the urgent need for India to move away from colonial legacies in public administration. He highlighted significant changes, such as the renaming of historical streets and the introduction of new criminal laws that liberated the Indian justice system from colonial influences. He reiterated the importance of aligning public administration with post-independence aspirations, as outlined in the Prime Minister’s ‘Panch Prans,’ which focus on national pride, unity, and civic duties.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of emotional intelligence and soft skills among public officials to effectively address the needs of marginalized communities. He called for the integration of emerging technologies in public service while ensuring ethical practices to prevent digital exclusion. The Vice-President also highlighted the necessity of a data-driven approach to evaluate welfare measures, enhance institutional credibility, and build public trust. He praised the Women’s Reservation Bill for promoting women’s leadership and underscored the need for IIPA to prepare district administrations to ensure safety during public celebrations.
