Shah said the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ manifesto for the November 20 assembly polls is a reflection of the aspirations of the people of Maharashtra.
Amit Shah accused the Congress of appeasing minorities and giving away the reservation rights of SCs, STs and OBCs to the Muslims.
“An organization of Ulemas has demanded reservations for minorities, and the state Congress president Nana Patole acknowledged this,” Shah said, after releasing BJP’s manifesto.
“Our constitution does not provide reservations based on religion. However, Congress promised reservations before coming to power, and people should take cognizance of this issue.”
The Union Minister also alleged that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray was siding with the Congress despite the latter insulting Balasaheb Thackeray and Veer Savarkar.
“I want to ask Uddhav Thackeray if he can request Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to say two good words for Veer Savarkar,” Shah said.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mumbai BJP Chief Ashish Shelar, Union Minister Piyush Goyal and other party leaders had graced the occasion.
Elections to the 288-member state legislative assembly in Maharashtra will be held on November 20 and the votes will be counted on November 23.
