Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with drone technology can significantly enhance capabilities, efficiency, and operational intelligence, including autonomous navigation and real-time data processing, according to a survey by Nexgen Exhibitions, organizers of the Drone International Expo. The survey gathered input from over 150 drone manufacturing and service-providing companies across 11 cities. It revealed that India’s AI mission is set to boost the Indian drone sector substantially. It highlighted India’s potential to become a global leader in drone technology, addressing current trends, challenges, and future opportunities in the industry.
The survey emphasized that the India AI mission, an ambitious government initiative to leverage AI across various sectors, is a major catalyst for the drone industry. “The survey noted that the integration of AI with drone technology can enhance capabilities, efficiency, and operational intelligence,” highlighting government efforts to develop a robust domestic manufacturing ecosystem. Director at Nexgen Exhibitions, Mr. Aadhar Bansal, stated that favourable government policies are transforming the sector and fostering technological innovation and domestic manufacturing. Participating companies view these policies as a positive step towards self-reliance, expecting a surge in domestic manufacturing and job creation. The survey also underscored the need for the Indian drone sector to focus on technological advancements to compete globally. Drone International Expo 2024, scheduled for July 4-5 in the national capital, is India’s longest-running expo dedicated to drones and related technologies.
