The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has deployed 5,000 teams of women workers to run a micro campaign for the Delhi Assembly poll due in February 2025, the party said on Thursday.
Through these teams, the party plans to hold over 50,000 meetings across 70 constituencies with women voters to communicate the welfare schemes of the AAP government.
Of Delhi’s 1.47 crore voters, 67 lakh are women, according to data published by the Election Commission of India in January this year.
AAP has launched a scheme offering free bus rides to women in over 4,000 State-run buses in the Capital in 2020. In March this year, AAP announced the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, under which women above 18 will receive ₹1,000 every month. The scheme is yet to be rolled out.
“These groups will hold three to four meetings daily. During these meetings, women will be informed about the work done by Arvind Kejriwal’s government and the benefits women have received from these initiatives.
They will be also told about the lack of facilities for women in States governed by the BJP,” the party said.
AAP said the women voters would also be apprised of the money they save to avail children’s education, basic amenities, and transportation. “They [women voters] will be informed about the electricity rates and the condition of hospitals and schools in the other States,” the party said.
It added that the teams will also convey suggestions and feedback from women during these meetings to the party’s top leadership.
