India’s Cabinet approved ₹14,463 crore worth of projects covering urban mobility, including Delhi Metro expansion. Other major cabinet approved projects include expansion of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) network across the country.
The Cabinet also approved Phase-IV expansion plans of the Delhi Metro. The last priority corridor of over 26 kms covering the Nithala-Narela-Kundli line, covering 21 stations, was approved at a cost ₹6,231 crore.
“This makes Delhi Metro one of the largest metro network in the world. Tokyo is the largest, and followed by London and New York. So Delhi Metro will be among the top 5,” I&B Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said.
Setting up of 85 new KV’s and 28 Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) across the country was approved at a cost of ₹8,232 crore.
The KVs will come up at a cost of ₹5,872 crore, while the NVs will come up at a cost of ₹2,360 crore. Over 6,000 direct employment will be generated through the setting up of these KVs and NVs.
