Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, at the Assocham Bharat @100 Summit in New Delhi, emphasised the integral role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in driving industrial growth. He stated that the Government is willing to earmark areas for MSMEs in the 20 townships being developed nationwide. He highlighted the Government’s commitment to providing MSMEs with land at concessional rates in industrial parks, ensuring a supportive ecosystem for these businesses. He also noted the government’s efforts to simplify processes, reduce compliance burdens, and decriminalise laws to promote ease of business for MSMEs.
In his address, he reiterated India’s commitment to sustainability, underscoring the importance of becoming a developed nation while addressing environmental concerns. He pointed out that emerging nations bear the brunt of environmental degradation caused by developed countries outsourcing production. He also praised the government’s welfare initiatives, including food security, water, electricity, and digital connectivity, provided to citizens without discrimination. He called for a focus on skill development, with a US$ 23.61 billion (Rs. 2,00,000 crore) allocation and urged academic institutions to incorporate entrepreneurship into their curricula. Additionally, he encouraged youth to embrace entrepreneurship and take bolder, risk-taking decisions to drive India’s economic progress.
