In a statement on the matter, OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu said,”Last year, we took a bold step by being the first smartphone brand to offer a lifetime warranty for our older models to support affected users… Building on that, we’re excited to extend this warranty to every OnePlus phone, reinforcing our belief in the quality and reliability of our products. More importantly, as a community-driven brand, we hope these measures provide users with a worry-free experience throughout the lifespan of their OnePlus devices.”
Apart from offering lifetime free warranty, OnePlus also says it is making ‘significant strides’ in display technology in order to tackle the environment factors affecting the AMOLED display on their phones. Particularly, the company is integratin a layer of Enhanced Edge Bonding Layer in all OnePLus AMOLED displays which is said to lead to ‘superior PVX edge-sealing materials’.
Putting the jargon aside, OnePlus says PVX is a high performance material which helps extend the lifespan of displays even in extreme weather conditions by slowing moisture and oxygen penetration over time.
OnePlus also announced Project Starlight in India on Thursday, unveiling plans to invest ₹2,000 crore over the next three years. The initiative aims to enhance durability, improve customer service, and develop India-specific features for OnePlus smartphones.
This new commitment comes as the Oppo sub-brand prepares to launch its flagship OnePlus 13 series in India and global markets next month. The move appears to be an attempt by OnePlus to overcome the negative press its phones had received in the past due to green line issues.
