Plans to introduce policy to generate 40,000 MW green energy by 2035

HYDERABAD

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has refuted recent BRS allegations of financial mismanagement.

“Congress government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is trying to ensure accountability for every rupee spent since assuming office,” he said, adding that the Rythu Bharosa scheme, which provides financial assistance to farmers, would be implemented despite economic challenges.

Mr. Vikramarka also announced plans to introduce a new energy policy aimed at generating 40,000 MW green power by 2035.

Presenting the performance report of various departments at the Secretariat on Friday, Mr. Vikramarka, who also serves as the Minister for Finance, Planning, and Energy, dismissed allegations that the Congress government had failed to initiate new projects or welfare schemes within its first year in office.

He stated that the government had repaid ₹64,516 crore in principal and interest on loans amounting to ₹7 lakh crore that it got from the BRS government, spent ₹24,036 crore on capital expenditure, and allocated ₹61,994 crore for welfare schemes.

Corrective measures

“We have taken corrective measures to stabilise the economy, which suffered under the 10-year misrule of BRS,” he said. He accused BRS leaders of attempting to defame the government, despite being rejected outright by people for spreading lies.

He also pointed out that the present government ensures its employees receive salaries on the 1st of every month. Referring to the government’s efforts to offer jobs, he said that they had handed over 56,000 appointment orders to candidates in one year.

“We have streamlined the proves of recruitment through the TGPSC on the lines of UPSC,” he said, accused the BRS government of not conducting a single DSC or Group -1 exam in 10 years.

He criticised the BRS government for burdening the Discoms through flawed energy policies. He condemned their use of sub-critical technology for the Bhadradri power plant, their failure to secure environmental clearances for Yadadri power plant, and their power purchase agreements with Chhattisgarh.

The Deputy Chief Minister added that the report by Justice Madan B. Lokur’s Commission on irregularities in power purchase deals during the BRS government’s tenure would soon be tabled in the Assembly.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment in establishing 20,000 MW green energy projects by 2030 and 40,000 MW projects by 2035.
