Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, emphasizing India’s growth and vibrant relationship with the global Indian diaspora. He praised the diaspora’s contribution to India’s progress, noting that India lifted 250 million people out of poverty in just a decade and rose from the 10th to the fifth largest economy globally. He highlighted significant achievements, including the Chandrayaan mission, India’s advances in digital technology, and the manufacturing of “Made in India” fighter jets. He encouraged the diaspora to strengthen India’s global presence further and continue promoting Indian products and heritage worldwide.
During the event, He acknowledged the historical contributions of the Indian diaspora, recalling their role in India’s independence and current global achievements. He urged the diaspora to engage with India’s culture through initiatives like “Bharat Ko Janiye” and “Study in India” and to promote India’s true history in their host countries. He emphasized that the diaspora’s efforts are critical to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. He also highlighted the role of heritage tourism, appealing to the diaspora to visit India’s smaller towns and villages, thereby fostering deeper emotional bonds with the country’s diverse cultural roots.
