Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna announced plans to construct two additional platforms at KSR Bengaluru Station at a cost of ₹180 crore and upgrade Bengaluru Cantonment and Yesvantpur junction railway stations to world-class standards.

On January 16, Mr Somanna inspected key railway infrastructure projects across Bengaluru. The visit covered Whitefield, Hoodi Halt, Carmelaram, and Bellandur stations, where he assessed ongoing development works and proposed improvements.

At Level Crossing 134, Mr Somanna reviewed plans for a Road Over Bridge (ROB) and suggested additional vents at Panathur bridge. He examined the progress of doubling works at Bellandur station, emphasising the need to address rainwater drainage issues in the region.

Mr Somanna assured the completion of parts of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) by March 2027, and revealed that the quadrupling of the Bengaluru Cantonment–Whitefield railway line is on track.

A 280-km Circular Railway project and a new terminal at Devanahalli were also announced to ease congestion in Bengaluru.
