The Jharsuguda district police were recognised for their innovative use of technology to significantly reduce the average response time for addressing grievances and ensuring a violence-free voting day.
Parmar Smit Parshottamdas, Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police, received certificate of appreciation on occasion of 15th National Voters’ Day for the innovative IT-based application used during 2024 elections. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja gave away the certificate to Mr. Parshottamdas in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
“Saarathi application is a robust mobile application designed to streamline manpower management, to track live locations of police parties, police sector parties, sector parties, emergency health vehicles on field and to ensure that police parties are attending incidents during election immediately and effectively,” Jharsuguda SP said.
As Saarathi application had role-based training modules, all police personnel had undergone training using Saarathi app.
During elections, Saarathi application acted as Integrated Command Centre for all election related grievances and their redressal.
According to Jharsuguda police, average time taken to address the grievance was 13 minutes and there was zero election day violence. “We had done enough confidence building measures on massive level from police side to ensure that there was free, fair, and safe environment on the day of elections,” the SP said.
The application helped improve accountability, real-time tracking and cutdown costs through efficient resource allocation minimising unnecessary travel and idle time.
It needs to be mentioned that the Jharsuguda police further developed Saarathi application into artificial intelligence-based model for cracking difficult crime cases. It has also achieved effective results.
