GHCL Q2 Results: Net profit jumps 8.4%, revenue dips 1.6%

Chemical and textile firm GHCL Ltd announced its financial results for the second quarter on Tuesday.

Net profit for the three months ending September 30 was ₹154.8 crore, marking an increase of 8.4% year-on-year from ₹142.8 crore in the same period last year.

Revenue for the quarter stood at ₹792.8 crore, a slight decline of 1.6% mainly on account of lower realization. The company had posted a revenue of ₹806.1 crore.

GHCL said its “5% (revenue) decline over Q1 FY25 is due to lower volumes on account of annual plant maintenance activities. As these activities have been completed, production volume will normalise in the coming quarter.” It had reported a revenue of 849 crore in the first quarter.
At the operating level, the company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) was reported at ₹211 crore, down 0.8% from ₹212.7 crore in the previous year.

The EBITDA margin improved to 26.6%, up from 26.4% year-on-year, indicating a marginal enhancement in operational efficiency.

“Realizations have stayed tempered during the quarter despite some increase in net imports of Soda Ash. Pricing may remain range-bound as industry challenges have not yet fully resolved,” Managing Director R. S. Jalan said.

“Apart from improving prospects in Soda Ash, the performance going ahead will be supported by planned expansion initiatives around Vacuum Salt and Bromine, both of which will start contributing from next year.”

The results came after the close of the market hours. Shares of GHCL Ltd ended at 558.00, 0.3% higher.
