Addressing Trump’s repeated taunt directed at Harris, “Kamala, you are fired,” Makhija said that the former president was rejected by the American electorate four years ago, while Harris represents a beacon of hope for the nation. With the US presidential election scheduled for November 5, recent polls from CNN and other outlets indicate that both Harris and Trump are in a tight race for popular votes in several key battleground states.

“Donald Trump lost the last election. He was fired by 80 million people in the United States who voted against him and said they wanted him out of office. And he still does not admit that happened,” Makhija explained.
“He even attempted to overturn the election, inciting a violent mob to disrupt the transfer of power in 2021, and he poses a significant danger,” he added. As Chair of the Board of Elections, Makhija is dedicated to tackling election disinformation, establishing a national standard for voting rights, and ensuring safe, secure elections.
“I think it is concerning to think that he could even be close to being back in power because he could be even more dangerous the second time,” he noted. “I do believe the American people understand that he does not tell the truth and is not someone they would trust with their own children,” he concluded.
